Longboard / Skateboard?

So I tried to find a cheap longboard, but no luck ... I was thinking ... if I get a cheap skateboard blank and just buy some Longboard trucks to put on the skateboard ... is not the cause of the trucks that really make the ride smooth and long term? Then, What do you think? will still ride like a longboard? I know I used to feel like, but I mean it is soft?
